Many times you don't get to enjoy the best sound, because you don't get the most out of your audio equipment. This statement applies to the different variants: 2.0 speakers, 2.1 speakers, home theater, portable speakers and sound bars, among others.

To achieve a good sound there are many factors that influence it, but without a doubt the two main ones are location and equalization. Even, for example, low or mid-range 2.0 speakers or 2.1 speakers gain a lot if they are positioned and equalized correctly.

In two previous notes we gave you recommendations about how to place your speakers and also about how to equalize them.

In this note we want to give you several tips to combine both factors, in order to obtain maximum performance from your speakers.

As for location, it is recommended to use the wall to amplify the sound of your 2.0 speakers or the subwoofer of 2.1 speakers and home theater systems. Speakers that have a rear port are ideal for placing them between 10 to 15 cm. from the wall, maximizing the acoustics of the boxes.

For 2.0 speakers, the geometric shape we should look for is the equilateral triangle, formed by the two 2.0 speakers and our position in the room.

Another issue to keep in mind for 2.0 speakers or 2.1 speakers is that the height of the tweeter should match the height of our ears when we are sitting in the room.

It is advisable that you use good supports or supports to avoid vibrations. If you place them on a shelf, a piece of furniture or hanging on the wall, it is important that they are well fixed. If you place them on a wooden piece of furniture, even better. And even better if you avoid metal or glass surfaces.

Whether it is sound bars, 2.1 speakers or home theater systems, it is necessary to evaluate the distribution of the different frequency speakers (tweeters, woofers and subwoofers) in your room, in order to achieve the desired surround sound.

Once your speakers have been placed correctly, the next step will be to equalize them, so we will give you very basic recommendations regarding this point.

Having already located your 2.0 speakers, 2.1 speakers, home theater or sound bar, the first thing you should consider is whether you are going to play music or movies / TV shows. And this is where we can make two divisions.

If you are going to use them connected to your TV, you can surely accentuate the bass more in the equalization to watch movies and perhaps not so much if you are going to play the audio of TV programs. This is based on the fact that the quality of the signal that enters them differs between both options.

The same applies to PC speakers if you are going to use them to play game audio from your PC or console. The quality of the audio signal will be good enough to achieve good depth of low frequencies, highlighting them.

And as we always explain to you, if you are going to play music, the choice of which frequencies to highlight in the equalization will depend on the musical genre you choose to listen to. Also consider what type of equipment and layout you are using, as you will notice differences in equalization if you use a pair of 2.0 speakers or a home theater system with more speakers.

At Thonet & Vander we have developed very versatile 2.0 speakers, 2.1 speakers, home theater, PC speakers and sound bars, designed both for the physical location in your room, as well as the equalization options for each use, which allows you to obtain the maximum performance of your equipment and enjoy your music, series, movies, TV shows and games.
